⚡️Update on the $atterley appeal of the WAPC Rejection of SP34 (AKA North Stoneville)⚡️

The deadline for Rita Saffioti MLA to ‘call in’ the $atterley appeal process has passed 🤦‍♂️ This means the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) will preside over the appeal process… And it also means we all get to Save Perth Hills for just a little longer… We’ve come this far 💪

The thing is, the honourable minister has “ministerial powers” to involve herself at any stage of the process and still call it in!

Rita Saffioti MLA, c’mon… you know a bad plan when you see one. The community, the Shire of Mundaring, the WAPC, your political colleagues and opponents have all said NO to this disastrous plan… allowing SP34 to go any further is not a good look for you or WA Labor.

As we all watch California burn, our collective attention turns to the summer risks we here in the Perth Hills all live with. Adding to Perth’s urban sprawl won’t keep us fire safe.

So, if you haven’t written to Rita - you still can. In fact you can message her monthly, weekly, daily if you like. If you have written, did you hear back? Share your responses in the comments below 👍

Are you free to join us next Tuesday Sept 8 at 6.30pm?❓😃

The Echo Newspaper is reporting a motion will be put to Council on Tuesday evening to UPDATE the Shire's Local Planning Scheme to reflect current bushfire risks, infrastructure limitations, and our community's desire to protect Perth Hills' environment. YAY!! 👍 (see link)

Come along to Tuesday's Council meeting, (Shire offices next to Puma), to urge Councillors to support a Scheme review to better match planning directions with our community and environment.

You can deliver a short 'deputation' (a speech, 3 mins max), or simply come along in support!

THIS IS IMPORTANT. We MUST URGE our Councillors to pass this Review as it would send ANOTHER signal to the Government that our Shire and community does not support DANGEROUS FIRE TRAP DEVELOPMENTS like North $toneville, and that we need a new direction that respects the Hills and safeguards communities.

While we're at it: You are ALL amazing! 🏆

Our Write to Rita campaign is going really well! ✅👩‍🦰

Planning Minister Rita Saffioti and Premier McGowan are receiving your emails urging Minister Saffioti to use her powers to CALL IN $atterley and the Anglican Church's shameful attempt to APPEAL the WAPC's REFUSAL of North Stoneville.

So, keep the (polite!) emails or letters rolling in to Rita!✍️

She has until Sept 9 to CALL IT IN!

Postal: Minister for Planning. 9th floor Dumas House. 2 Havelock St, West Perth 6005.

The clock is ticking for Planning Minister Rita Saffioti MLA to CALL IN $atterley and the Anglican Church’s appeal against the REJECTION of North Stoneville.

We want the Minister to achieve a PERMANENT END to dangerous and destructive development at North Stoneville.

The Minister has some choices on how she can respond.

The one that we’d ALL like to see - is to CALL IN THE APPEAL - which Rita has the power to do by September 9.

The WAPC’s INDEPENDENT panel, which REJECTED North Stoneville, doesn’t want this development any more than we do... which is great news! ✅

But we need to make sure the Minister knows our community, like the WAPC, remains DEAD AGAINST this development.

***** CALL TO ACTION *****

Email the Minister to CALL IT IN, AND CC Premier McGowan, before the 9th of September.

The Government’s doing a GREAT JOB protecting us from COVID 19. All we want is the SAME community protection against this dangerous development that risks lives in the Hills.

A simple sentence is all it needs - heartfelt, authentic - and polite 🙂

Or a couple of paragraphs explaining your reasons:

Bushfire risks, a fire trap development, huge traffic risks, environmental destruction, loss of Perth’s Hills beauty and culture, water shortages... the list goes on...

But, we must keep it polite, because this is important stuff, and after-all, we’re a really decent community 😉

The Minister’s email is: Minister.Saffioti@dpc.wa.gov.au

The Premier’s email is: mark.mcgowan@mp.wa.gov.au

Or post a letter: Honourable Rita Saffioti MLA. Minister for Planning. 9th Floor, Dumas House. 2 Havelock Street, WEST PERTH WA. 6005.

Save Perth Hills, Shire Council President John Daw, Liam Staltari, Liberal candidate for Kalamunda and local member Matthew Hughes, have already written to the Minister asking her to CALL IN THE APPEAL.

So now it‘s your turn! It's so easy to send an email.

Time investment to do this action is less than 5 minutes

And remember to CC your email to us - saveperthhillsinc@gmail.com.

It’s time to SAVE PERTH HILLS!
